As the biggest development ever carried out by Wheatley Homes, the opportunity had arisen for N&C Moderna to flip an open specification to a full N&C package. N&C Moderna were unique in being able to offer the complete tiling solution package with the latest in on-trend tile designs and high performance tiling products, whilst being able to pass on cost savings by cutting out the 'middle man'.
The project, based in Buntingford, consists of several phases. The first phase was made up of 78 units, the second phase was 98 units, with a plan to build 400 units in total. Working with Wheatley Homes' design team, N&C Moderna presented a full specification of tiles adhesives, grouts & trims and agreed a room-by-room schedule based around the N&C Synergy Series.
The choices selected for the tiles for the kitchen & utility room floors were N&C Time in white, 600x600 in a polished finish, or Dolomiti in Calcite, 600x600 in a Natural finish. The wall tiles for the cloakroom, bathrooms & en suites walls were our N&C Strata in light grey, 500x200 with feature walls incorporated which were our N&C Strata décor in light grey, 500x200 and floors in N&C Strata in dark grey, 450x450.
All tiles have been adhered using our Nicobond adhesives and grouts plus Nicobond Plastic ply, our 2mm self-adhesive reinforcing sheet and our aluminium square polished tile trims. The average plot uses approx 30-35m2 of tiles and so far NC Moderna have fitted over 2,500m2 on this project with a further 10,000m2 still to supply and fit to complete the 400 units.
